会員の皆さまには、益々ご健勝のこととお慶び申し上げます。

このたび、第68回日本口腔衛生学会・総会を2019年5月22日（水）～24日（金）の3日間にわたり滋賀県立県民交流センター「ピアザ淡海」で開催する運びとなりました。縁あって私が大会長の重責を担うことになりました。微力ではございますが日本口腔衛生学会の発展のため本大会の運営に最善の努力を尽くす所存でございます。

滋賀県は平均寿命、健康寿命がともに日本最上位に位置し、健康づくりに成功している県です。また、滋賀県は歯科医師の保健所長を輩出する嚆矢となった記念すべき県でもあります。会場最寄駅（大津駅）は京都駅からJR新快速で9分なので利便性に優れ、日本口腔衛生学会の開催県としてもっともふさわしいと思っております。

学術大会のテーマは、滋賀県近江商人の哲学である「三方よし」にちなんで「口腔保健がもたらす三方よし：売り手よし、買い手よし、世間よし」としました。口腔保健提供者・企業（売り手）、生活者（買い手）、国家（世間）の三方に利益がある口腔保健推進システムをくろうという意味です。

近年の研究で、口腔保健がさまざまな生活習慣病の一次予防（発症予防）を担っていることが明らかになりました。生活習慣病は生活のなかで予防し、治療する疾患です。バンコク憲章で述べられた健康の決定要因の自己制御を地域に展開する薬局、診療所、歯科診療所の医療関係者が連携して支援し、生活習慣病の発症を未然に防ぐことが大切です。健康の決定要因とは、日本では健康日本21で示した健康増進の基本的要素（栄養・食生活、身体活動・運動、休養、飲酒、喫煙及び歯・口腔の健康）のことです。そのひとつは歯・口腔の健康ですから、歯科診療所が生活者および子どもや要介護者等の健康増進に積極的に取り組む必要があります。

本大会では、このような議論をするために役立つ企画をたくさん準備しております。多くの行政と歯科医師会の関係者が大学や関連企業の関係者とともに本大会にふるってご参加くださることを期待しております。

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of our members for their health.

The 68th Japan Oral Hygiene Association General Assembly / Academic Conference has been held at Shiga Prefectural People's Exchange Center "Piazza Akai" for three days from May 22 (Wednesday) to Friday the 24th (Friday) 2019. I will bear the heavy responsibility of the big president. Although we are fine, we are committed to do our best to manage the main event for the development of Japan Oral Hygiene Association.

Shiga Prefecture is the prefecture where average life expectancy and healthy life span are both located in the top of Japan and are successful in making health. In addition, Shiga Prefecture is also a memorable prefecture that became a pillar of production of dentist's health center director. The nearest station (Otsu Station) from Kyoto Station is 9 minutes faster than JR, so it is convenient and I believe it is the most suitable as a prefecture held by the Japan Oral Hygiene Association.

The theme of the academic conference was "Sanriku Yoshi brought by oral health: good seller, buyer, good world" after the "Sanjo Yoshi" philosophy of Shiga Prefecture Omi merchant. It means that we will make an oral health promotion system that has benefits to the three sides of oral health providers / companies (sellers), consumers (buyers), and the state (the world).

Recent studies have revealed that oral health is responsible for primary prevention (prevention of onset) of various lifestyle diseases. Lifestyle diseases are diseases to prevent and treat in their lives. It is important that medical stakeholders of pharmacies, clinics, and dental clinics that develop self-regulation of the determinants of health mentioned in the Bangkok Charter cooperate with each other to prevent the onset of lifestyle-related diseases in advance . The determinant of health is the basic element of health promotion (nutrition ・ diet, physical activity ・ exercise, rest, drinking, smoking and health of the teeth ・ oral cavity) indicated in health Japan 21 in Japan. One of them is the health of the teeth and oral cavity, so the dental clinic must actively promote health promotion for people, children, care recipients, etc.

We are preparing a lot of useful projects for this kind of discussion at this tournament. We hope that many officials of the administration and dental associations will join in the event with the university and related stakeholders.
