We are pleased to announce that we will be holding the 10th Scientific Meeting of the Japan Academy of Digital Dentistry since the founding of the Japan Academy of CAD/CAM Dentistry in March 2010. We sincerely thank all members and those involved for their support.

During this time, the rapid computerization of dental care has driven the evolution of diagnostic imaging such as CT, electronic medical records, and diagnostic equipment, leading to major changes in daily clinical practice. In 2014, we changed our name to the Japan Academy of Digital Dentistry to promote the spread of digital dentistry and the development of equipment and materials, and to establish the foundation for clinical research. Soon thereafter, we became a general incorporated association. In 2015, the International Academy for Digital Dental Medicine was established in Zurich, since when Japan has been a key member. In the area of dental care in Japan, CAD/CAM crowns are now covered by medical insurance, and clinical applications of zirconia are rapidly replacing metal bond crowns, considered the gold standard of esthetic restoration.

Furthermore, the spread of intraoral scanners has brought enormous benefits not only to dental professionals but to patients as well. Coverage by medical insurance and a model-less era are on the horizon.

At this important paradigm shift in dental care, the 10th Scientific Meeting of the Japan Academy of Digital Dentistry and the 5th Annual Meeting of the International Academy for Digital Dental Medicine are of great significance to the progress of dental care in Japan. Japanese dental care providers and dental technicians have always been among the most skilled in the world, and the addition of "digital power" will enable them to provide ultimate dental care.

The opportunity to discuss the latest trends of dental care and digital dentistry in the ancient capital of Nara is also highly significant. We are delighted to be able to host these international conferences at the same time to highlight the latest trends from around the world and introduce cutting-edge dental care in Japan.
